| This three-day, two-night trip is for adventure seekers only! Drive your own team of dogs into the beautiful Caribou Hills to see mountains, cross rivers and check out wildlife all on the back of a dog team. Day 1: An introduction to mushing. Meet the dogs, learn how to harness a team, steer and brake on the sled and what to expect on the trail. Take off from the Spitfire Kennels yard with Jillian and Rich to Caribou Lake where we will spend the night around a cozy fire in the comfort of a lodge. Day 2: Getting to know the back-country. After a leisurely breakfast, hook up your team with Jillian and Rich and head into the mountains for an afternoon of challenging terrain and amazing scenery. Enjoy an authentic trail lunch with your team before heading back to Caribou Lake for another night in the wilds. Day 3: After breakfast, hook up your team one more time to head back to the kennel. Don’t forget your camera for plenty of photos with your new pals. Meals will be provided during the trip. Transportation to the kennel and accommodations before and after the dog sled trip are not included though packages with Timber Bay B&B are available. | Tours and Rides |
| Spitfire Kennels is branching out this year in Homer and offering kennel tours, rides and even multi-day trips into the Caribou Hills. Accommodation packages are available through Timber Bay B&B and Bear Creek Winery and Lodging. Guests who come to Spitfire Kennels for a ride and tour should dress warmly as temperature and wind can vary. |



| Come visit with the big dogs in the yard and the puppies in the puppy pen while Jillian and Rich talk about what it takes to run dogs in Alaska. Hear tales of the Iditarod trail and other races and see what kind of gear goes on every run. Then bundle up and hold on, because you’re in for the ride of your life! A 30-minute ride will have you whizzing over frozen creeks and through alpine forests with the mountains all around you while you watch what these dogs were born to do: run! If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even drive the team home, but if not, just sit back and enjoy the ride. Upon returning to the kennel, enjoy some light refreshments before saying good-bye to your new furry, four-legged friends. Two hours - $100. |
| Take in the views of mountains and glaciers on East End Road on your drive to Timber Bay B&B where you’ll be treated to a leisurely, gourmet breakfast before hopping in a dog sled (that will arrive right at your door!) and whizzing off for a 20-minute ride behind a team of eager huskies. | Make sure you check your calendar be sure the moon is full for this nighttime run. Make it a romantic ride under the bright, full moon or bring the family for a new take on Homer! When the moon is full and the sky is clear views of the mountains and glaciers around Kachemak Bay are as plain as day! Two-hours - $100 |
